Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026 · Closed-beta version
This policy explains what personal data PassportSpark collects when you use the PassportSpark app and website, how we use it, who can see it, how long we keep it and the choices you have.
This is the closed-beta version of the policy. We will update it as PassportSpark changes.
Who we are
PassportSpark is provided by MERIDIAN LABS LLC (“PassportSpark”, “we”, “us”), which is responsible for the personal data described in this policy.
PassportSpark is for adults only
You must be at least 18 years old to use PassportSpark. The app checks the birth date you enter and does not create a profile for anyone under 18, and Discovery only shows adult profiles. If you believe someone under 18 is using PassportSpark, please report the profile or contact us.
Automated screening for contact details
To keep conversations on PassportSpark and protect members from scams, we automatically check messages, profile text and profile photos for contact details such as phone numbers, email addresses, links, social-media handles and QR codes.
Profile photos are checked by a scanner that we run privately on Google Cloud Run. It reads text (OCR) and QR codes in the photo without sending the photo to any other external text-recognition service. We keep the result of the check, not the text or QR content found in the photo. Photo Verification selfies are never scanned.
Depending on your plan and our policy, content that appears to contain contact details can be blocked or hidden from other members.
How we use information
To create and secure your account, including sign-in and two-step verification.
To show your profile in Discovery to members whose preferences match, and to show you profiles that match yours.
To deliver Hearts, Passes, matches, Priority Intros and messages.
To review Photo Verification requests and show verification badges.
To keep members safe: screening for contact details, handling reports and blocks, investigating abuse, enforcing our rules and preventing banned members from returning.
To answer support requests and process account deletion requests.
To meet legal obligations and to establish or defend legal claims.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for third-party advertising. The PassportSpark app does not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.
Who can see your information
Other members can see your public profile: display name, age (not your birth date), gender, city and country, bio, interests, languages, height if you added it, dating intent, the travel details you add, your profile photos, your verification badge and an activity indicator, such as whether you are online.
Your matches can see the messages you exchange with them.
Never shown to other members: your email address, your birth date, your sign-in and two-step verification details, your Photo Verification selfie, the Passes you give, your Discovery preferences, and the reports you make.
The PassportSpark team can access account data where this is needed for support, Photo Verification, safety and moderation. Access to our administrative tools requires two-step verification.
Service providers process data for us as described below.
Authorities or other parties where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect someone’s safety or to establish or defend legal claims.
Reports, moderation and blocking
When you report a member or a message, we create a moderation case that the PassportSpark team reviews. New message reports preserve a restricted snapshot of the reported message as well as the profile context. These snapshots are not available through member APIs, and are not reconstructed for older reports.
For account security, we temporarily cache protected representations of verified sign-in identifiers for a limited period. For confirmed severe abuse, approved restricted records may remain after ordinary account deletion to detect repeat abuse, subject to review and expiry limits. They are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. You may contact support to request human review of an account restriction or a mistaken association.
Platform device-integrity and device-recall processing is not enabled in this release. We do not collect advertising identifiers or hidden hardware fingerprints for ban enforcement. A shared or resold device alone is not proof that someone is a previously banned person.
When you block a member, you and that member stop seeing each other’s profiles and can no longer message each other. You can review and remove your blocks in Settings.
Service providers
Supabase: database, authentication, file storage and server functions.
Google: Google Sign-In, if you choose it, and Google Cloud Run, where our private photo scanner runs.
Apple: Sign in with Apple, if you choose it.
Apple App Store and Google Play: app distribution and, if subscriptions are offered in future, payments.
RevenueCat: subscription status management, only if subscriptions are offered in future.
Google and Apple also handle sign-in and store purchases under their own privacy policies.
International processing
PassportSpark connects members in different countries, and our service providers operate in several countries. Your information may therefore be processed and stored in countries other than the one where you live, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time in the app: see
how to delete your account.
When deletion is accepted, ordinary account access ends immediately. We remove personal profile content, photos, Photo Verification selfies, Hearts and Passes, conversation messages, preferences and private account details. A restricted report-time message snapshot may remain as moderation evidence, separately from the deleted conversation. Deletion does not remove an approved active safety restriction.
Some records are retained for a limited period for safety and legal reasons: reports made by or about you and the related moderation cases and decisions, blocks that other members placed on your account, records of actions the PassportSpark team took on your account, the audit record of Photo Verification reviews (without the selfie), operator marketplace decisions, a marker that helps us detect re-registration after a ban, the moderation history of display-name and city changes, and a minimal receipt that your deletion request was processed. Where one of these records refers to you, a scrubbed placeholder profile labelled “Deleted member” is kept with it. It has no bio, interests, languages, height, photos or real birth date; only the city, country, gender and dating intent remain. Members cannot see these retained records. Copies may also remain in our providers’ backups until those backups expire.
Security
We protect your information with access controls, encrypted connections, private storage for Photo Verification selfies and two-step verification for access to our administrative tools. No online service can guarantee complete security, so please use a strong password and turn on two-step verification.
Your choices
Edit your profile, photos and Discovery preferences at any time in the app.
Block or report any member.
Turn on two-step verification in Settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights over your personal data, such as rights to access, correct or delete it. To make a request, contact us at
support@passportspark.com. We may need to verify your identity before we act on a request.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as PassportSpark changes and will revise the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to tell members, for example in the app or by email.
